Susan Gustafson Pikrallidas, Vice President, Public Affairs

As Vice President, Public Affairs, Susan directs AAA’s public affairs activities, including Public Relations, Association Communication, Automotive & Consumer Information, Community & International Relations, Government Relations and Traffic Safety.

She was formerly AAA’s Managing Director of Government Relations and is a twenty-three year veteran of the association. Before coming to AAA, she worked for five years on Capitol Hill – first for former Congressman Wiley Mayne of Iowa and then for the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Pikrallidas is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and the Georgetown University Law Center and is a member of the Virginia State Bar. She is past President of the Washington Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar, and currently serves as AAA’s representative on the Executive Committee of the American Highway Users Alliance. She also serves as an officer of the AIT/FIA Foundation for Mobility and Society.

COLIN SKEEN, Assistant Managing Director, Home & Road Services, The Automobile Association, United Kingdom.

After qualifying as a barrister, he joined the AA in 1976, and has since held various executive responsibilities including Regional Director; Company Secretary; and Managing Director of Member Services.  He represents the AA in the AIT and FIA. 

He is a Council Member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and a Trustee of the National Motor Museum.   He is a Freeman of the City of London, and a member of the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers of London.

Schietroma, Elisabetta

Elisabetta Schietroma, was born in Rome.  She graduated cum laude in law at the university "La Sapienza"   in Rome on July 1973.

She passed a state competitive examination and entered the Automobile Club d’Italia as an adviser in 1975.  In 1976 she was in charge of the Telephone Assistance Center of ACI Membership Services.     In 1981 she passed a state examination and was firstly appointed Director of the Border offices of ACI Touring Services, and then director of the ACI Telephone Assistance Center. In 1983  she acted as a deputy at the office for legislative studies.  In 1987 she was nominated Senior Manager of the road tax office of the Fiscal Affairs Department of ACI.

She served on several ACI commissions dealing with touring, traffic, legal and fiscal issues.  Her activities in ACI Commissions included: identifying companies to be invited to private treaties, giving operational instruction in respect of road taxes collection and checks (in the Ministry of Finance/ACI joint committee); participating in the examining board for staff recruitment and advancement (also for entrance examinations to ACI Management), participating as a member both at the ACI Technical and Juridical Commission.

Her activities included also:

§       development of ACI telephone Assistance Centre providing round the clock information and assistance to tourists touring Italy

§       development and enhancement of the information service, run with RAI (the Italian Radio and Television Corporation), providing 24 hrs information on road and traffic conditions to motorists through Radio and Television  channels, during the whole year.

At national and international level she participated in several meetings on issues relating to touring   services, legal affairs, road taxes, transport and mobility.

She is General Manager of ACI Studies and Research Department since June 1998, dealing with  technical and juridical issues concerning road safety, traffic laws and regulations, transport, mobility,   statistical and technical affairs.

She is Secretary of the Filippo Caracciolo Foundation, founded by the Automobile Club d’Italia in 1999 with the aim of promoting and supporting studies and scientific research and projects on    automotive issues, with particular regard to mobility, road safety and environmental protection.

Doggwiler, Peter

Peter Doggwiler, appointed Director General of the Alliance International de Tourisme (AIT), the world-wide federation of automobile and touring clubs, took up his functions of this Geneva-based organization on 1st April, 1993.

Mr. Doggwiler was born in Winterthur, Switzerland. During his studies of Law and Japanology at the University of Zurich he was a founding member of the internationally reknowned annual Winterthur Music Festival. While board member and president for several years he played a crucial role in the establishment of this major cultural event of Eastern Switzerland.

After taking his degree in Law, Mr. Doggwiler worked for many years for the International Committee of the Red Cross as a field delegate. He then moved on to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Directorate of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. He has worked in Japan, Africa and Latin America.

Mr. Doggwiler, while supporting the interests of motorists, is also deeply concerned about the protection of the environment. He believes that alternative solutions to present-day transport and tourism issues may be necessary to ensure that an equitable balance of environmental concerns is achieved.
